FIGHTEX Damper Structure
Whether it's for the street, GT or Formula, the same quality (Hand made) is found in all our Fightex dampers.

[Damping Adjuster] Separate Tank (ST) type & Expert (EX/EX-G) type allow you to adjust independently the bump & rebound. Fine Sports (FS) type and Dual Adjust (DA) type allows you to adjust the damping force of both the bump and rebound.

[Dust Cover] A rubber cover designed to protect the piston rod from road contaminates.

[Dust Seal] Outer seal is used to keep finer dirt particles out of the damper.

[Oil Seal] The inner seal with low friction and temperature properties. The polyurethane with low friction is employed.

[Rod Guide Bush] 4 fluoridation ethylene plastic coated guide. Reduces friction and abrasion.

[Piston Rod]The damper rod which has to constantly withstand high thrust loads. The Fightex damper rod is of a high precision chrome molly steel, heat treated and chrome plated (surface of roughness 0.3µ). This makes the rod very resistant to bending and wear, helping to give the damper a long service life.

[Adjustable Needle Valve] 18 steps adjustable needle used to set bump & rebound characteristics. Various combinations (30 types of needle) are used to give the best performance for the street, GT or Formula applications.

[Jet Bleed Holder] Each damper is jetted (over 30 types) for the most suitable characteristics whether it's for street, GT or Formula. Damping forces vary between 140% and 170%.

[Piston Valve] Piston valves varying in size from 35ø ~ 45ø over 30 types used to give the desired damping characteristics whether it's for the street, GT or Formula.

[Piston Ring] This component is the most important for consistent damping. It is required to give both an airtight seal and low friction. A seal in the shape of a W constructed from Teflon used in conjunction with a reverse tension ring, was designed to overcome the opposing demands required for consistent damping.

[Valve Shim Stack] Valve Shim Stack (varying thickness & sizes) can be varied to give the desired damping characteristics whether it's for the street, GT or Formula.

[Cylinder Body] A large diameter (ø46) body made of light weight high carbon steel with a wall thickness of 2mm, inside surface finished to a mirror finish. Designed to be used with ø60mm springs.

[Nitrogen Gas Charge Point] High pressure. DO NOT OPEN.

[High Pressure Nitrogen Chamber] The high pressure nitrogen chamber. A free sliding piston used as a partition inside the cylinder. The volume of the rod when moved is absorbed by changes in the volume of the gas. This helps to prevent cavitations in the oil in the main body.

[Piston Seal] Uses Teflon for low friction. The inclination and sticking of the free piston is prevented.

[Free Piston] The gas and oil chamber are partitioned. The gas is used to help the damper rod move more freely in the main body and preventing the oil from aerating.

[Separate Tank] The separate tank is made from the same material as the main body with a wall thickness of 1.5mm.

[Valve Shim Stack] Found only on Separate Tank (ST/EX/EX-G) types, used to tune bump damping characteristics.

[Base Valve Unit]A one-way valve, for adjusting bump characteristics.

[Damping Adjuster (Bump)] 18 steps adjustable needle used to set bump characteristics. Various combinations are used to give the best performance for street, GT or Formula applications

[Adjuster Cap] A cap to protect from contaminates (Remove to adjust).

[Separate Tank Connection]Oil passage connecting the Separate Tank to the main body.

[Dual Adjusting Bottom Bracket] As well as being able to adjust the ride height with the lower spring seat, on (DA/DA-G/EX/EX-G) types, the bottom bracket can be also used to fine tune the vehicles ride height. This can also prove useful if pre-loading of the spring or a desired stroke length is required.
